| League Rules. League rules:
No slapshots. A minor penalty will be assessed. A slapshot is considered as a
shot in which the stick rises above the knee at any point in the motion of the
shot. (backswing in which the sticks blade rises higher than the players knee.)
Any behaviour deemed to be unacceptable by the league will result in the
minimum of a probationary warning or possible immediate expulsion from the
league. Any player receiving a second warning will automatically be removed from
the league.
There is no draft, players can register and sign up to play with whomever
they like (space permitting).
Teams can fill vacancies for any game with either players from other teams
within the league and/or the approved spares list.
Team representatives are reminded that this league is to operate as a coed
organization in every sense of the term. In the event that a team is short
players and requires spares, the replacements should be of the same gender as
those being replaced. The emphasis of this league policy is more heavily geared
towards the replacement of missing female players than males. Should a team wish
to use a female spare for a male player the league acknowledges the value of the
promotion of the female aspect of our league in that case. Male spares are not
to be used for missing females (with the exception of goaltenders) as this
diminishes the spirit of true Coed Hockey of which this league was founded upon.
This policy is a prime objective of this league and it is hoped it can be
achieved through the sense of fair play and good sportsmanship by all.
Any spare player who has played a minimum of three regular season games will
be eligible to play during the playoffs. (excluding spares who are already
registered as full time players on another teams roster)
Games will be a full 45 minutes running time vs. the 30 minutes of the previous league.
Each game will consist of 10 minutes Zamboni time, a three minute warm up and a
full 45 minutes of run time game time (see playoff exception). When a games
score is within a difference of 1 goal the final minute of playing time will be
played as stop time. Penalties will be assessed as 3 run time
minutes for a two minute minor penalty, 6 run time minutes for a four minute
double minor penalty,
7 run time minutes for a five minute major penalty and 12 run time minutes for a for a
ten minute misconduct penalty should one ever occur.
Teams that are killing a penalty must change on the fly. Changing on a
whistle can result in an additional penalty assessed.
Games will finish in a tie at the end of regulation play. Points will be
awarded as 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. Only
the game outcome will be recorded. There will be no personal stats and therefore
no reason for any player to have to worry about running up their personal point
totals. Win as a team, lose as a team and have fun at all costs.
Playoff games will be 40 minutes of run time hockey. When a games score is
within a difference of 1 goal the final minute of playing time will be played as
stop time. Each game will be
curfewed with five minutes remaining to allow for a shootout if necessary. Games
ending in a tie will be decided by a three player shootout. If still tied,
shootout will go to a sudden elimination format.
The body overseeing the functions of the league will consist of 1) League
administrator and 6) Team administrators.
Any league meetings will be open to all members however only the
administrators shall be entitled to vote on league matters.
Anyone wishing to assume an administrators position will be allowed to
challenge the current administrator in an open election of all league members.
Voting shall be balloted and will take place at an agreed upon time and location
allowing a minimum of 60 minutes and a maximum of 120 minutes for ballots to be cast. All votes shall be in person only,
(no proxy voting) and league members will be verified prior to placing a vote.
